Blog Review - Taking a Break!

Ok, so I'm going to have a lot on my plate with my brother's Charity Auction this month, so I will be taking a break from the weekly blog reviews. In fact, I think I may move it to be a monthly review. It is harder than I first thought to get a blog lined up, reviewed, and get an email interview completed every week! Thanks for all my participants, and the reviews are not over, just on hold till next month!

Seeking Items for a Charity Auction

My brother has been home (Indiana, USA) for 3 weeks trying to raise more financial support for his ministry in Rome, Italy. He left Indiana 15 months ago to go to Rome spreading Hope to the 150,000+ college students who attend university in Rome. When he left, he had raised monthly support for his ministry, however, due to the unexpected high cost of living in Rome, plus the falling value of the Dollar, his ability to make ends meet has been decreasing significantly! He has had to make this trip home as his current monthly and one-time support isn't enough to cover his regular financial commitments and ministry needs. He has been using up the remainder of his personal savings to fund his ministry on campus.

I was trying to think of a way to help him financially, and came up with the idea of hosting a charity auction right here on Knits and Knots! I am looking for donations of handcrafted items of ANY kind. I will be donating as many items as I can make! The items will be listed here on May 1st, with some form of "bidding" (still working on the details!). The bidding on all items will be open for one week. ALL of the financial proceeds will go directly to my brother's ministry in Rome. Any un-purchased items will be donated to a local charity (whatever is appropriate for the item).

If you are interested in participating, please contact me at knitsandknots@gmail.com and I will send you information on where to send your item(s). Also, feel free to email me if you have questions about myself, my brother, or his ministry in Rome!

Thanks for considering!

** The auction site is now up (no bidding till May 1)! **

Selling on Ravelry

Ravelry just added .pdf pattern stores! Now that Ravelry is hosting my patterns, I am going to be posting direct buying links from my site for all of my patterns. You can still purchase them through Etsy, but the nice thing about Ravelry is that it doesn't cost me anything to list the patterns! The other good news is that the selling fee that Ravelry charges goes to improve the site... which I like because Ravelry is just plain awesome! So, keep an eye out for the PayPal links on my patterns!

Regg mainly focuses on knitting, but has a love for crochet as well. She has produced some gorgeous FOs that will have you drooling! I know that just reading through her blog made me want to dust off my knitting needles and get back into the knit-side of fiber arts. Regg has a gift of photography that makes her site something special to read!

Yee-Haw!

A friend of mine just had a baby boy and I wanted to send something to her. I found this super cute baby cowboy hat pattern** that I just HAD to make. I sized it down to fit a 6 mo old by reducing the number of starting chains and taking out some of the repeat rows. I added a crab-stitch border around the brim in red and a multi-colored chain for a “rope” tie. I am planning on making some cowboy booties to go along, and sew some burp cloths and a blanket to match!

**EDIT: I have removed the link to the baby cowboy hat pattern. It is an archived site. It has been explained to me that the original author removed her post for some reason, which means she doesn't want the pattern floating around everywhere! It can still be found on Ravelry, but I don't want to post it here if the author is not willing to post it herself!
